I transitioned from a mountain bike to the FX 7.3 and I love it! I wish I would have made the change a long time ago. The ride is smooth, transitions well and I love how lightweight it is. I would recommend this bike to anyone looking for a great hybrid bike.

    Comments:

Went mostly to this bike for weight and road speed over hybrid. Still have the hybrid but this is excellent daily bike. Easy to adapt to seat. Good shifting even though I was new to clickers. Very attractive bike. Good stiffness and response. A little twitchy with a tall rider (6'4"). Good brakes. 300 miles or so so far. Could be cheaper, but so could everything. Good value for money.

        Comments:

I just LOVE my 7.3! I've put thousands of miles on it just using it as my primary transportation... picking stuff up at the store, riding to visit friends, commuting to and from work, even riding to church... and of course, just cruising around the lake and trails. This bike is rugged enough to handle some very light off-road riding such as dirt bridle paths or crushed gravel trails, yet smooth and light enough for respectable commuting. It isn't as fast and light (delicate) as a dedicated road bike, but it's more than sturdy enough to handle the rigors of everyday commuting, while being light enough to load onto the racks on the front of our city buses when I choose 'bike-trans' for the day. The brakes could be a bit more positive-- mine seem a bit soft, despite adjusting and changing pads, and occasionally the cable pops out of the tension retainers on the frame. No tension=no brakes, yikes! I did change out the stock seat to a women-specific gel seat simply because I'm not 'well padded' myself and I'm not into bike shorts (usually wear plain clothes and even dresses at times), but since I see so many of these FX series bikes with the stock seat in place, it must not be SO bad. I ride almost daily at a popular lake-park and these FX series bikes are extremely popular! There MUST be a reason, and there must be a reason why I'm on my second one... yes, actually: my first one was stolen even though it was locked, and I needed a new bike. I could have afforded a higher-end bike at 3 times the price, but instead I got another 7.3 FX because I loved my first one so much. The 'new' one is every bit as good as the first. I always recommend the FX series to folks who are looking for a good entry level, general purpose bike. Granted, it's not a racing bike. It's not the fastest thing on two wheels, and it's probably not the first choice for century rides or cross-country trips. But it IS a respectable ride for the general purpose cyclist, with a decent amount of speed (particularly if you go to a slightly thinner rim and tire), and it's very comfortable. Not to mention, it is a nice looking bike-- I get lots of compliments on it, even from the hard-core Spandex racing types who ride the top dollar carbon jobs. I'm recovering from a bit of knee surgery at the moment, and am anxiously awaiting the green light to ride again... it's that 7.3 that made my legs so strong that my recovery thus far has been fast. That 7.3 will be there to help with my therapy. Ah, therapy is going to be a ball with my Trek there to help me!

        Comments:

This is a great bike. I gave my old (2009) Trek 7.3 to my son. It had 7200 very enjoyable miles on it. This new version (2015) is a sleek matt black, great components, and seems a bit faster than the 2009. The gearing is a bit different. Only thing I'd change would be the seat, and now that I've gotten used to it I may not change it after all but I would say that it could be a bit more comfortable. I use my bike, primarily, for strenuous workouts of 15 to 20 miles at a clip on a great bike trail I live by. I've used it as a commuter as well and been very satisfied. These 7.3s are the best investment I've ever made...hands down.

          Comments:

Moving up from my previous ride (Koan Dew), this bike is certainly the superior one. Lightweight, with great handling and speed, my only complaints would be the brakes could be improved and the seat is a little uncomfortable (both easily remedied with a quick upgrade). All in all great bike!

I've just began bike commuting (7 miles each way) and this is a great bike! It's extremely responsive, quite light but still has a lot of durability. Plus, you definitely get a value on the features when upgrading from the 7.2 to the 7.3. I am a female that went with this model because it fit better than the WSD version. This really is a great bike and I can't wait to take it out for a really long ride!
